I’ve a little secret to tell you, and it’s a goodie.
‘Specially if you’re into writing emails.
Right now, it’s just you and me.
I’m here, writing this email specificially for you — my one faithful reader.
That’s a bit spooky, huh?
I’m sitting here on my red coloured laptop on an oak table.
The tap is dripping and the refridgerator humming away in the background.
I’ve a cup of half-drunk tea next to me, a pile of books and my ‘Email Players’ book.
The missus, she’s in bed reading.
My daughter, curled up asleep next to a rabbit and a dog.
You, I’m guessing, are on your mobile phone doing something, somewhere…
Killing time, in between jobs or chillin’ on the sofa with the TV turned on.
But right now, we’re in a room together and I’m inside your head.
I’m the words in your head, right now.
I’m talking directly to you.
No FB newsfeed taking you away.
No Twitter feed updating you with the latest Tweets.
Me talking, you listening.
And that’s the power of email.
It’s just me and you.
And it’s where you should take all of your people, your tribe, your leads and your customers.
To their email inbox.
Where you can be YOURSELF, speak DIRECTLY to them and help them get what they WANT.
Facebook, Twitter, Instagram… none of it is personal.
It’s all distraction, fighting for someone’s attention. You’d never have read this on FB or Twitter, it’s just too long, too boring and something would have got in the way…
Some B.S. that doesn’t really matter.
Anyways, all I wanted to do was chat to you…
You see email is still a personal thing, it’s the closest thing you can get to having a conversation with a friend, a colleague, a 1-2-1 conversation on the internet.
That’s what makes it so powerful.
More powerful that Fakebook, Twitter or Instagram… because not everyone is on any or all of these Social Media outlets…
But they are ALL on email!
At the touch of a button, you can speak directly, in person to your list and all it takes is a little edification and a little more writing emails.
Now go build thy list!

P.S. The real secret to writing “great emails that sell” isn’t to write to people, it’s to write to one person – your avatar, your ideal customer, the people most want on your list – to speak in your real voice, to speak to them and to make it what Jay White calls “Water Cooler Talk”.
The kinda talk you have around the Water Cooler at work, when you get in, during your breaks and when you just need to get away and gossip for a bit.
